Got Wisdom?

As believers we are called to love God and love others. We accomplish this by seeking after God with all our hearts and leaning not on our own understanding. One way God chooses to reveal Himself to us is through older, wiser believers. We have an amazing opportunity to listen, consider and evaluate our paths based on what those older and wiser than us have experienced and pass down to us. Through the years I have been blessed to be mentored and have my life spoken into by some amazing people. Soaking up wisdom from those older than me has …

RENEWED: An Interview with Lucille Zimmerman + Monday M.O.M. Link-Up!

Overwhelmed. I’ve been speaking to women’s groups for more than two decades. And while fashions and American Idols and fad diets have changed over the years, this one thing has remained constant: When I ask women what they struggle with, day in and day out, their #1 answer is “I feel so overwhelmed!” So I fell in love with Lucille Zimmerman’s new book the moment I laid eyes on the cover. Renewed. Ahhhh…what an invitation! I spent two weeks enjoying Lucille’s stories, Biblical insights, and practical wisdom as I savored (and stuck Post-It Notes all over!) a chapter a day. …

I’m not a homeschooling, lipstick wearing, organic mama (no more perfect moms)

You have to take a moment to stop and watch the video for this week’s devotional, its FABULOUS. I don’t think I’ve been more understood than when I watched the video and realized we as moms wear SO many hats.  Click on link here: http://youtu.be/2YllS4JwLi0 As a mom, understanding how YOU function, what your preferences are and what your expectations are helps you discover your best Mommy M.O. How often have you had a set of expectations about your day, only to fall flat on your face within the first hour of waking? I’ve been there. I’ve done that and I’ve …

We’re all in this together – A GIVEAWAY

*Don’t miss the giveaway at the end of this post. There are many ways to enter! I had a conversation with a mom a while ago that really made me think. She was worried about her two-year-old, who had become a picky eater. Frustrated with the meal-time battles and the fact that her toddler had just learned to say the word no, this mom threw her hands up and said, “My husband and I decided we’re failing as parents.” It broke my heart. Anybody who has had a two-year-old knows that these types of battles are totally normal. I understood …

Looking for a Fence

Growing up on a 100-acre cattle and horse farm, I learned early on how to put in a fence post. First you needed gloves to protect your hands from blisters and thorny-pieces of wood. Then you’d take the post-hole digger and begin at the spot designated for the fence post. As a weakling like me, you jumped on the top of the post-hole digger. Jumping over and over and over, you would work the post-hole digger down. Then carefully, you would open the post-hole digger and hold the dirt you have displaced and set it outside and beside the hole. …

What Are You Shaping with Your Lips?

Lips. Mouth. Tongue.  Have you ever considered the power of your lips, mouth, and tongue?  The Bible addresses all three and tells us to use them wisely. Why is it important for moms to consider what our lips, tongue, and mouth are doing? The words we shape with our lips often shape our lives and our children’s lives. *Shape, “Maybe we never should have gotten married,” and the shape of your life may be vastly different from what you intended. *Shape with your lips, “I need You, LORD,” and you’ll find heavenly help on the way. Yes, what we shape …

Solution Revolution

“You’re not doing the same things,” my husband said when I was working with my second son when he was 2, 3 and 4. “Yes, I am,” I remember answering, somewhat frustrated. “The same things aren’t working.” Regardless of the age, sometimes “the same things” don’t work. Developing children requires a diverse strategy arsenal. For academic development, we used alphabet puzzles, flash cards, animal alphabet cards, Bob Books, Now I’m Reading Books. One learned to spell his name first in sign language. Another chose Garfield over classics – our home library is stuffed with Garfield, Snoopy, the classics, World War …

Mentor”ish”ing on the Trail + Monday M.O.M. Link-Up!

by Erin MacPherson I’m part of a run”ish”ing group with six of my girlfriends. We call it run”ish”ing because if you’ve ever seen me run, you’d know that I certainly could not be labeled a runner.  Run”ish”er is a stretch.  But regardless, every Saturday morning we get up bright and early and meet at a local park to go run”ish”ing.  We even have shirts to remind us of our athletic prowess (or lack thereof). Now, I know it sounds crazy (who gets up at 6 am to do something sporty?) but it’s become the part of my week that I …

Who’s Got Your Back? (No More Perfect Moms)

Written by Heather Riggleman, Author of Mama Needs a Time Out Don’t forget to watch the video first! If you haven’t read the book, it will give you info about the chapter on friendships.  http://youtu.be/d2EpSpYEFmU Even in the world of Christians, friendship can sometimes be a daunting idea. Growing up, I never really stayed in any one town long enough to develop friendships and by the time I got high school, I was a combination of painfully shy and tough girl. In other words, according to Jill, I was and often still am a “Here I am” girl, meaning, “Here I …

Great Easter Activities

Colorful eggs. Tons of fabulous candy. And a giant bunny. A cross. Palm branches. And an empty tomb. As a child holidays can be quite confusing. As a mom it can be difficult to know how to teach your children about Easter. Below are some ideas to help your kids understand what Easter is all about. Resurrection rolls are a fun, tasty, educational, and relatively quick Easter breakfast recipe. My children love making them. One note to this recipe, I buy the large sized crescent rolls to keep the marshmallow inside the roll better. Resurrection Cookies. This recipe begins the …
