Let’s Teach Our Children Some Lessons!

If you want your children to learn how to:
  1.  Trust in God’s Sovereignty…You must respond to life’s challenges like you believe that God is Sovereign. (Philippians 4:10-13)
  2. Be content and serve God where He has placed them…You must strive to look at life in light of Scripture, remembering you are where you are at, and surrounded by the people we are surrounded by, because God has placed you there. (Ephesians 6:5-8)
  3. Communicate with others with an attitude of grace and humility…You must communicate with others with grace and humility, and with the ultimate goal of restoration and helping a brother or sister thrive. (Galatians 6:1-5)
  4. Pray with hope and expectation…You must pray and live, waiting (on tip toes!) in hope and expectation. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)
  5. Live among others with a heart attitude of love and grace, with the goal of creating unity…You must live in unity, love, and grace, regardless of disagreements, because Scripture says that the world will know we belong to God because of our love for one another. (Philippians 2:1-4)
  6. Rely on God in all of life’s circumstances…You must be on your knees on a daily basis. You must rely on God, not just during stressful times, but every day. (1 Thessalonians 5:17)
  7. Be active members of the body of Christ, and love the church (the body of Christ)…You must seek to live life with, and speak into the lives of other believers, (Hebrews 10:24-26) and love the church by encouraging and building others up, remembering that even if we don’t attend the same church, we are THE church. (1 Corinthians 12: 12-27)
  8. Respect those in authority over them…You must respect those in authority over you. Not because they have earned it, but because God is the one who puts people in positions of authority over us. (Romans 13:1-5)
  9. Listen to those who are in leadership over them…You must extend grace to those in leadership, and not focus on what you perceive to be their weakness. You must not speak about them with sarcasm and gossip. (Hebrews 13:17).
  10. Receive instruction and correction…You must be willing to receive instruction, correction, and input (in humility), and even seeking it out at times. You must admit that you are still in a process of growth and learning even though you are older. (Philippians 2:1-15)
If your children do not see the most important, biblical concepts lived out your life, then how are they going to be prepared for life, ministry, and dealing with the trials and hardship that inevitably wait for them in the future? Encouraging our children to seek God and focus on him by living out the reality of God and His Word in all of life’s circumstances, will help prepare them to live life outside of our home, and outside of  the church doors. We have a very small block of time that we can live life with these precious people we call our children.
Make it your goal to LIVE!
