We all need some reminders about Christ’s peace and how to attain it. In the craziness of this holiday season with dinner parties, Santa events, and of course shopping, let’s dig a bit further into peace and what God’s word says about it.
Let’s make peace with others. To have a more righteous character, God asks us to be the sowers of peace. Try your best to get along with others in peace today and always. Pray to God for help with this.
Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness (James 3:18).
If you want more peace in your life, spread it. The ending result of peace in one’s heart is a life of joy. Doesn’t that sound wonderful…more joy too.
Deceit is in the hearts of those who plot evil, but those who promote peace have joy (Proverbs 12:20).
Live a life without sin and folly, and you shall have peace. The more you align your life with God’s word, the more peace you will have in Him. A life of this world full of sin will definitely not reap peace. We must LISTEN and then DO as God instructs us to live….as faithful servants.
I will listen to what God the LORD says; he promises peace to his people, his faithful servants–but let them not turn to folly (Psalm 85:8).
Watch your tongue. Christ’s brother James warns us about the tongue being an instrument of evil. We can cut people down and harm them emotionally with our sharp words of judgement. Often people have lasting scars from words that hurt them long ago. Let’s avoid this at all costs by remembering to be slow in speaking, slow to anger, and listen a lot more than we speak to bring more peace to our lives and to the lives of others we know.
…but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse people who are made in the like ness of God. From the same mouth comes blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so. (James 3:8-10).
With Christ’s help, I hope you find more peace this holiday season than ever before!
Merry Christmas,
