All moms have heard, “I’m bored,” from their kiddos more times than we care to count. So, my eleven-year-old daughter, Ainsleigh, and I have come up with some ideas to keep your kids occupied on a rainy summer day. All of these activities are things you can do together!
Ainsleigh licking the cake batter.
- Play cards: Crazy Eights, Go Fish, War and Old Maid are a few simple ones.
- Crafting: do basic cross stitch, make cards for relatives and friends, catch up on thank you cards, make Fun Loom bracelets, color in fancy coloring books, do water color painting, make bead necklaces, do dry clay shapes, play with Play-do, build Lego forts and cars, and make puff paint t-shirts
- Build indoor forts with sheets and pillows in the living room or play room.
- Read the Bible or other devotionals together or read other books for summer reading out loud.
- Watch movies that you got free from your local library.
- Play board games like Junior Monopoly, Candy Land, Scattergories or Sorry.
- Bake cupcakes, cookies or brownies
- Make funny videos and pictures together.
- Do online shopping for school clothes and backpacks.
- Have a dance party or put on a play with your family.
- Workout together with light weights or do simple yoga.
- Put together puzzles.
- Do Mad Libs together and laugh a lot.
- Play Pictionary with a dry erase board.
- Play dress up.
- Do a pretend hair salon.
- Have an at home spa day.
- Have backwards day where you eat breakfast for dinner and flip flop your clothes.
- Make paper airplanes.
- Do Origami.
We hope you have a fun summer!
Be Blessed,
AllisonD and Ainsleigh
