No one starts out their parenting journey determined to make a foolish mess out of things. But just for fun, what if we did? What would it look like to strive to become a foolish mom?
- Give no thought to eternity. Live each day without considering tomorrow. Refuse to think about your eternal soul which will give an account of your life. Live for today…take as much as you can from everyone around you NOW. Ignore the verse, “Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore, do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.” –Ephesians 5:15-17
- Give no thought of future generations. Firmly decide that your happiness alone matters...if the selfish decisions you make today batter your kids for life…who cares?? Reject the wisdom found in scripture, “The LORD is slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, forgiving iniquity and transgression, but he will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, to the third and fourth generation” –Numbers 14:18 ESV
- Put zero effort in discipline. Let the school handle it. Computers, T.V. and video games all make convenient babysitters so really there is no need to be bothered. Brush off the verse, “A wise son makes a glad father, but a foolish son is a sorrow to his mother.” –Proverbs 10:1 ESV
- Live beyond your income. Spend as much as you can as quickly as you can. Consistently live above your means. Have fun digging your family into debt and forget the verse, “The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is the slave of the lender.” –Proverbs 22:7 ESV
- Abuse your husband. Belittle him in private as well as in public. Make certain he regrets his marriage and insure he dreads his return home each night. Give your kids countless reasons to loathe their parents relationship and fear marriage in general. Completely rip out Proverbs 31 from your bible–no need for, “An excellent wife, who can find? She is far more precious than jewels. The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will have no lack of gain. She does him good and not harm all the days of her life.” –Proverbs 31:10-12 ESV
