Today, I visited the church in which I grew up. I say that, because, from the cradle roll to the 9:30 University Ministry, I was a part of First Baptist Church, Lubbock, Texas. And, I loved every minute of it. Thank you, Mama.
Thank you, Mama for….
Taking me to the church nursery; and then you going to your Sunday School class and worship so you could grow and mature as a Christian.
Taking me to a church where the nursery workers held me and rocked me and sang “Jesus Loves Me.”
Teaching me that Saturday was a day to prepare for Sunday; to get my bath, wash my hair, and prepare my offering envelope with my tithe from my Saturday chore allowance.
Teaching me to do a daily Bible reading and prayer.
Reading Bible stories to me and making them come alive in my heart and mind.
Telling me about God and that Jesus died on the cross for my sins.
Taking me to Vacation Bible School.
Making sure my clothes were washed and laid out for me to wear Sunday morning.
Always having an age appropriate Bible for me to take to church.
Taking me to church choir. I loved that! 🙂
Taking me to youth group and fellowships.
Offering our home as a place for youth get togethers.
Paying for me to go to church camp.
Modeling Christian values.
I owe who I am to you, Mama.
