With so many resources available to moms these days, it’s not easy to know where to invest our time and money. After spending time with a group of moms of girls going through Five Conversations to Have with Your Daughter, I put together a list of good reads for a mom and her daughter. Having a “next read” helps us keep our momentum going. Some options simply nurture a love of reading, while strengthening an understanding of faith. Others are more openly devotional or Bible study driven. You’ll see that the suggestions for girls are organized by children, tweens, and teens.
Take a look at my list, add your suggestions in the comments (along with GREAT books by our own M.O.M. team and suggested resources), and be sure to take a look at the 10 tips to remember when choosing your next book. Reading is a beautiful way to connect to the hearts of our children. It’s also an amazing tool to connect our kids to the heart of God. I’m looking forward to hearing what you would add to this list!

10 tips to remember as you choose a book with your girl
- Don’t be afraid to say, “Let me read this first.”
- Make the most of good resources to add to what you are doing with your girl.
- On occasion, you might say, “Let’s read this together and talk about it.”
- You are a protector for your daughter; help make decisions about what she is ready for and what will help her be the girl God wants her to be.
- Don’t apologize for nurturing your daughter in the way the Holy Spirit steers you.
- Give her a steady supply of healthy food for her head and her heart, and she won’t be so quick to feel “hungry” for what the world offers, instead.
- God promises to give wisdom to those who ask. ASK Him to guide you and look to His Word for answers.
- Buying books or browsing at the Christian book store are greats ways to spend your $ and time with your daughter.
- Quality books make a great gift. Every Christian girl should have a new resource for her walk with God under the Christmas tree.
- It’s great to give your girl a good book … but better to also sit down with her and talk about it later.
So what great reads would you add?
