5 Things You Can’t Buy on Black Friday (or any other day)

Spread the love

It’s here. Black Friday! The day when stores are bursting at the seams with bustling shoppers searching for the deal of the day for that special gift for someone they love.

Advertisers are well aware of the Black Friday frenzy, so they seize the season as an opportunity to get their client’s piece of the multi-billion dollar pie.

Although I’m not a shopper, I’m definitely a Black Friday fan.

But while we are all out there thinking about the things we want to get for our family and friends, let’s be sure to remember some of the things that you can’t buy on Black Friday (or any other day).

  1. Family…

Precious, imperfect, quirky, unique gifts linked together for a lifetime by the One who created each one on purpose and for a purpose. The ones who are constantly on your heart and mind. They are part of your best memories and most treasured times. Often dysfunctional. Sometimes unexplainable. Always irreplaceable.

  2. Friends…

Those special people in your life who you choose to spend time with and who choose to spend time with you. The ones who love to laugh and cry with you, and who really get you when no one else has a clue. Those select few who know your deepest secrets, see your silent fears, put up with all your faults and are there for you no matter what.

  3. Faith…

Your faith is yours. It’s not something you can buy or sell. It’s the confidence you have in a God you can not see, yet you know He sees you, loves you and has a plan for your life that is much better than anything you can plan for yourself… and nothing can give you more peace than knowing Jesus is real in real life.

  4. Integrity…

That thing that makes you worth your salt. The thing that makes your words and your life believable. That thing that makes your life an example – not of perfection – but of character. Integrity is found in the face of strength, truth, honor, class, and courage.

  5. Joy…

Joy doesn’t line the shelves of the local department store. It isn’t found in the bottom of the discount box. Joy is an irrepressible assurance that God is forever faithful and forever good, even on hard days and in difficult circumstances. Joy is Jesus putting a steadfast smile on your heart because you know He is with you and for you no matter what you are going through.

These are true treasures. The kind of things you can’t find on sale or hanging on a rack.

So, in the midst of the mayhem on this day we call Black Friday, buy what you can but remember that what you can’t buy is oh-so much more important than those temporary trinkets that will end up in a garage sale in a few short years.

WHAT ARE SOME THINGS YOU WOULD ADD TO THISE LIST OF 5 THINGS YOU CAN’T BUY ON BLACK FRIDAY?
