“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”
Galatians 6:9 ESV
Mom, sister, grandmother, friend, no matter what battle might be going on in your world right now let me just take a minute to encourage you…don’t give up!
It’s easy enough to say, I know, but when the going gets tough, we as praying women, need to get on the floor. No, I’m not talking about the exasperated fall to the ground, but the movement of a woman who is purposeful, passionate and persistent in her prayers. Taking every one first to the throne before ever picking up the phone.
So, let’s get real for a minute, I may not know the exact details of your battle, but chances are there are some like these:
- unsaved children
- prodigal children
- financial challenges
- marriage falling apart
- work environment in turmoil
- a major health scare
- frazzled friendships
- not enough time in the day to get everything done…
The list could go on and on. I know. I hear the prayers of women just like you week in and week out at my church and my heart aches and breaks right alongside each of these women. For their own struggles and for the struggles that are very present in my own life.
Oh sweet friend, I get it, I really really do, but I’m here to tell you right here, right now to don’t give up.
- Don’t give up on those kids who don’t know the Lord, God will rescue them.
- Don’t give up on the prodigal in your life, God loves them even more than you do.
- Don’t give up on your financial burdens, give them over to God and let Him be in charge of your finances.
- Don’t give up on that marriage, God can restore it.
- Don’t give up on that job, God has you there for a reason.
- Don’t give up on your health, there’s something God wants you to do in you or through you in it.
- Don’t give up on those friendships, God made you for community.
- Don’t give up your peace due to the busyness, give each morning to God and let Him order your day.
When life starts to get chaotic it’s easy to retreat and hide in our safe little cocoon. I get that, I do that too sometimes, but lemme just take a minute to push you a little bit. When we are safely tucked into our little cocoon we isolate ourselves from the community that God has brought into–you know, the friends, family and people in your life that love you, I mean really love you. Once you’ve taken those requests to God, then step out and seek prayer support from others.
I love this verse in Hebrews; it’s found in Hebrews 10. You may have heard it before, it’s chapter 10, verse 25, in the NLT, “And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.”
We get that, we need to stay connected with each other, but check out this same verse found in the Message.
So let’s do it—full of belief, confident that we’re presentable inside and out. Let’s keep a firm grip on the promises that keep us going. He always keeps his word. Let’s see how inventive we can be in encouraging love and helping out, not avoiding worshiping together as some do but spurring each other on, especially as we see the big Day approaching. Hebrews 10:22-25 MSG
Did you see it? It’s right there…don’t give up!
It’s hard, I know, but look what it says, “let’s keep a firm grip on the promises that keep us going.”
What does that look like?
- Spending time in God’s Word.
- Meeting together with your friends.
- Taking time to pray about everything.
- Make a Scripture memory notebook full of verses to encourage you in this season. (a great place to start would be Galatians 6:9 and Hebrews 10:25).
- Ask for help.
- Watch God work in and through each situation.
You can do it my friend, don’t give up…we’re praying for you!
Here’s a simple reminder for you, and you can also share it on Instagram too. Enjoy!
