Whether your kids’ classroom space is the kitchen table or in another room, here is your secret trick to a brainy yet swanky homeschool table!
Covering your school table with educational prints then protecting it all with clear plastic is sure to expand your school space as well as generate learning enjoyment!
Let’s get started!
First, gather these supplies:
- Clear vinyl table cover. I find mine in the craft section at Walmart. Choose the right size to fit your table. I also like to buy the thicker vinyl–it costs a bit more but lasts much longer.
- Clear packaging tape.
- Learning images to display under the vinyl. This is when the fun begins! Pick out pictures, posters, magazine articles, maps, verses to memorize…anything studied or choose your own fun school theme!
- Scissors to cut the vinyl to fit.
Second, decorate the top of your the table. Strategically place your images over the table. For my elementary kids, I displayed a number chart, clock with no hands, map, cursive handwriting sheet, facts to be memorized, and a few other bright things.
Third, carefully place the clear vinyl covering over the table without disturbing the display. Try to center the vinyl without moving the pictures underneath.
Fourth, cut the extra length of vinyl. Do not over trim as you will need enough length to tuck under the table corners.
Fifth, starting with a corner, fold the sides tightly up and under the table, securing tightly with the clear packaging tape. Tighten the plastic by gathering it up under the corners and sides while securing with tape. Hide the seam as well as possible under the table. The trick is to make the top as tight as possible!
Sixth, enjoy! Watch your kids whip out those dry erase markers and practice their handwriting and other skills right on the tabletop! Your family and friends will enjoy seeing what you are learning for the year! I personally love how easy it is to wipe down and keep clean!
We love to hear from you!! What makes your homeschool area extra special?
