#1 HANDS DOWN BEST MOM ADVICE I’VE EVER RECEIVED

Because seasons and circumstances change

(Best Advice I’ve Ever Received starts after the introduction at 1.25 into the video)

Your seasons and your circumstances will change. It’s inevitable. But your priorities will always be the same regardless of what season or circumstance you find yourself in.

But sometimes is so easy to get caught up in our circumstances that we forget where our focus should be. As you navigate through each season and circumstance of your life, remember the top 4…

1. God – Nurture most the relationship that you need the most – the one that will sustain you when you feel like you can’t face another day – the one that will give you the wisdom you are searching for, the comfort you need, and the strength to go on when you feel like pulling the covers over your head and giving up.

2. Husband – While your children vie for your attention, your hubby secretly longs for it. Nurture your relationship with your man. He will be there long after your children are gone.

3. Children – You only have a few short years to impact your children and leave imprints of faith on their hearts. Make your moments count while you can. One day your nest will be empty, so let Facebook wait, put your phone on silent, and intentionally parent the adult you want your children to become.

4. Home – Make your home a haven for your family. A place they will want to come back to long after they have left your nest. You’re the only one who can.

#2 WHEN YOU FEEL LIKE A FAILURE AS A MOM

Have you ever felt like a failure as a mom

My guess is, at some point or another, you probably have been able to relate. It seems to be a pretty common struggle among mothers.

It wasn’t long after I returned home from the hospital with my first child that I felt that way. I remember telling God one evening, “I have no idea what I’m doing!”

What I love about God, though, is that He can use everything-even those moments we would rather not remember-for His glory.

Can He use that time you yelled at your son because he spilled milk on your freshly mopped floor? Yes, He can use that.

Can He use that time you accidentally slammed your child’s fingers into the car door? He can use it.

And can He use that time you were too busy to notice how much your child desperately longed for your attention? Yep, even that.

When we feel like failures as moms, there are two things we need to remember.

In this short video (only 3 minutes!), I’ll tell you what those two things are!

When you feel like a failure…

1. Remember, being a failure isn’t always a bad thing.

Sometimes, failure is the means God uses to teach our children how they should behave when things don’t go as they planned. Sometimes, it’s through our failures that God’s grace is able to shine through us.

2. Remember, God can fill in the gaps where we fall short.

God loves our children even more than we do, and He is able (and willing) to fill in the gaps when we fall short.

Should we try our best to be loving mothers? Absolutely! But when we fall short, we shouldn’t beat ourselves up, because you and I have a God who is big enough to piece all the broken pieces back together again.

*Lindsey’s parenting devotional, Searching for Sanity, is available NOW! Here’s a bit more about it:

Searching for Sanity, a devotional for busy moms

Searching for Sanity offers moms an opportunity to take a breath, dig into the Word, and  learn from parents of the past. In short devotions designed for busy moms, this book explores the parents of the Bible, both the good and the bad.

Some of the parents within the pages of God’s Word set great examples for us to follow; others made huge mistakes. In Searching for Sanity, you’ll learn from both.

The wisdom of God’s Word, paired with the experiences of another mother-in-training, will help moms find sanity in the midst of chaos.
