Christmas DAY is over and the kids are home. Family is gathered. Your home may be loaded with toys to entertain your children through the holidays. But, if you find that you’re in a bit of a slump and need a few fun ideas to carry you, the kids, and relatives through the holidays, try the following.
1. CHRISTMAS BINGO
Everyone loves bingo and all ages can play. You can make and print your own bingo cards HERE.
I bought a necklace from Dollar Tree and cut the coins to use as bingo markers.
It will be a blessing to discuss what the different pictures are and the part they play in Christ’s birth.
2. Word Search: Christmas Star
This is for your older children or even to do as adults gather for fun and games. See who can find all the words first.
The Christmas Star can be found HERE at www.akidsheart.com.
3. Bow Toss
This is super easy to set up and a great activity if you have a crowd. You could even set up different “stations” for the different activities. I’m using a “crate” that Bath & Body Works used to package candles we bought. But you could use anything.
3. Christmas Story Play
What I’m the MOST excited about is surprising the parents of our 4 grandchildren with their children staring in the Christmas Story play. I’m writing this post on December 23 and hoping that when they all arrive on Christmas Eve, I can “pull it off” with little rehearsal. The adults are supposed to bring their play money so our 3 1/2 year old “tax collector” can collect taxes from them. 🙂
What do you think about the angel I made out of silver wrapping paper? lol My prayer is that the kids will have fun while acting out Luke 2:1-14 as I recite it. KJV no less. That’s how I learned it as a child. I CAN’T wait. I’ll fill you in on how it went.
And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed. (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.) And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:) To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child. And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
Heavenly Father, please bless each mom and her family with the fresh joy of Your gift of Christ Jesus. May our lives increasingly reflect Him. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
HAVE A BLESSED CHRISTMAS, SWEET MOMS!
