For Mother’s Day a few year’s ago, my son gave me a hand-painted ceramic pot with a fabric flower inside of it:

It was the perfect gift for me because I don’t have a green thumb (at all!).  
And I loved the poem that he put inside the pot:

It reminded me that as moms, whether we have a green thumb or not, we are still gardeners.

Sure, our kids can be rough and tumble (and impossible and frustrating) sometimes,

but they are fragile and delicate too.

And no matter what their personalities are, it’s important to nurture them,

to gently pick the weeds,

to protect their roots,

to give them room to grow,

and appreciate their uniqueness.

And when we do all of that, what we’re really doing…

is helping them to fully bloom.

And while they bloom, mom, don’t forget the promise God has for you:

 

The LORD will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength. You will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring. – Isaiah 58:11 NLT
