I remember looking in the mirror after a mommy meltdown moment and thinking, “You’re never going to get this right!”
Motherhood. It’s definitely not for the faint of heart and kids don’t come with instruction manuals. But we try to do it well.
We join parenting classes, read parenting books, try to tuck ourselves under the wing of a mother who looks like she’s got it all together, and we pray that somehow, as the years pass by, our kids will turn out okay.
For me, it seems like there’s a constant battle between being the mom I’d always hoped I’d be and feeling like who I really am just doesn’t measure up.
Maybe you feel the same way too.
I know some of you do because my inbox often overflows with emails from moms who are weary, worn out, overwhelmed and feel like they don’t measure up. Some who even want to give up.
But sweet moms, you are stronger than you think.
* For every mom who feels alone in her journey, you need to know you aren’t. Every road you go down in your parenting journey has been well worn with footprints from other mothers who have gone before you.
It is God who goes before you, who holds you when you can’t go on and who protects you when the road gets rough and the pathway gets narrow. He has strengthened you for this journey sweet mom and you are stronger than your think.
* For every mom who feels frustrated, weary, worn out or overwhelmed, you are stronger than you think. You’re a master planner who juggles meals, appointments, homework, PTA meetings, laundry, carpools, tucking your kids in at night with sweet butterfly kisses, helping your teen deal with the emotional roller coaster of high school, and all in the middle of a severe bout of PMS that has enough raging hormones to launch a rocket.
You juggle your family well and somehow, though it seems completely impossible, you’re able to keep all the balls in the air at one time while making homemade chocolate chip cookies and cleaning crayon off the wall for the umpteenth time. Yeah, sweet mom…you are stronger than you think.
* For every mom who feels afraid, ill-equipped, undeserving, incapable, inadequate or unworthy, you are so much stronger than you think.
* For every mom who wants to give up, give in or doesn’t understand how she can make it through another day, you are so much stronger than you think.
Today, is a new day and you get to begin again. You won’t get everything right and you won’t always have the right answers. But you’re a mom who has little eyes watching you and little lives depending upon you to show them the way to make it when life is hard and when they don’t feel like they can go on.
You will show them that today, because YOU, sweet mom, are stronger than you think!
QUESTION: IS TODAY ONE OF THOSE DAYS WHEN YOU DON’T FEEL SO STRONG? DID TODAY’S ARTICLE ENCOURAGE YOU? WILL YOUR REMIND ANOTHER SWEET MOM THAT SHE IS STRONGER THAN SHE THINKS TODAY?
