THIS IS YOUR MOMENT IN TIME!

hands-of-time

GIVE BACK TO GOD!

For 57 years, God has graced me with the opportunity to live life in this world. While many days my body feels much closer to 100 years old, having worn it out lifting thousands of pounds a day at my job, my mind and spirit still feel amazingly youthful. I still feel like a teenager!

For several years while being in my front yard, I would occasionally see an older gentleman taking a daily walk through our neighborhood. We always shared the cliché, neighborly hello and wave, but one day I decided I would break out of that casual interaction and try to get to know him a little more in-depth.

I spent about fifteen minutes talking with Bob and discovered he was 90 years old. I soon asked him a question I would ask many others through the years after him, “But how old do you feel on the inside?” Bob quickly replied back with essentially the same answer always given, including my own response, “I still feel like a teenager!

You see, no matter how many years we have lived, our spirits are still babies. This body we walk around in may be diseased, breaking down and deteriorating, but our spirit will be around for millions of years. Life as we know it is just a vapor that appears for a moment of time and then vanishes away (James 4:14), but as believers our spirit will live forever in Heaven. I have been in a battle with cancer for 3 years and I understand first hand that our time on this earth is so very brief. We aren’t promised tomorrow so we must be about the Father’s business TODAY!

In the book of John, Jesus, speaking about His soon-coming departure, said, “You will have the light only a little while longer. Walk while you have the Light (keep on living by it), so that darkness may not overtake and overcome you. He who walks about in the dark does not know where he goes (he is drifting). While you have the Light, believe in the Light (have faith in it, hold to it, rely on it), that you may become sons of the Light and be filled with Light” (John 12:35-36 AMP).

In the short time that we are here on earth we must stay full of the Light (Jesus), so that we can serve the Lord, reach the lost, and make a difference in this world. We cannot do anything of ourselves but we can do all things when His Light is in us and working through us. How can we be that difference?

1. Always be dressed for success!

“Since God chose you to be the holy people He loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony.” -Colossians 3:12-14 (NLT)

2. Always be ready to tell someone about Jesus and what He has done in your life!

But in your hearts set Christ apart as holy (and acknowledge Him) as Lord. Always be ready to give a logical defense to anyone who asks you to account for the hope that is in you, but do it courteously and respectfully. -1 Peter 3:15 (AMP)

3. Learn to be a disciple. Learn how to witness. Open up friendly conversations in your day to day travels. Be filled with God’s Word and the Holy Spirit. Pray for boldness. Finish well!

Let your light so shine before men that they may see your moral excellence and your praiseworthy, noble, and good deeds and recognize and honor and praise and glorify your Father Who is in Heaven. -Matthew 5:16 (AMP)

We have been given a tremendous gift, opportunity and privilege with the life we have been allowed to live. We are not promised tomorrow or even one more breath. Enjoy life! Love hard! Most importantly, LOVE GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, SOUL, MIND, AND STRENGTH, LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF, AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE WHILE YOU CAN!

How has this post from Dave ministered to you as a dad, a mom, a mentor or a ministry leader?

The drive home seemed to be endless. My mind was a battleground of extremes. Ideas of what to do next to help find David seemed to constantly flood my thinking. Yet the negative side, thinking the worst of what might have happened to my son, was always occupying my mind. Though sleep was dearly needed, it was not welcomed, for even in sleep I was tormented.

Confronting depression, fatigue, and evil, Dave Moore goes on a cross-country search for his missing son. Becoming increasingly desperate and having done all that is humanly possible without results, what will he do? Who will he turn to? In this amazing true story, you will experience Dave Moore’s anguish in going through a father’s worst nightmare—a missing child. Through his fear, Dave confronts his soul’s emptiness and learns the heavenly Father’s Love.
