My son graduated from college over the weekend and my daughter moved home from school. So both my older kids are hanging around the house now, which I love (!), and my high schooler will be out of school in two weeks.
I say that to explain why I didn’t write a blog. I intended to. I told them I needed to. But they’re so fun! And if they want to be with me, I’m available. There’s a necessary rhythm to productivity, but there’s also life and windows of opportunity. My son will eventually get married and be totally independent. My daughter will go back to school in August. I only have my high schooler for another couple of years.
I have ministry and personal goals to achieve for sure, but I also need to remember the awesome privilege of having kids. God gave me three special people to nurture and invest in. I’m the only Mom they have. I don’t want to look back and regret being too busy for them.
So if I don’t blog as consistently this summer, it isn’t because I don’t want to or that I’m lazy. It’s that I’m grabbing hold of these last summers with my kids. I want to live these moments to the fullest!
What about you? How do you manage family and work during the summer?
