Hi sweet moms. I love coming here, to the Mom Initiative, everyday for encouragement. In fact, we all need it, which is why I wrote the book, Mama Needs A Time Out. As a new christian learning to walk with Christ and not having an example or strong foundation; I felt like I was floundering being a mom and woman of God. One afternoon, my daughter spiked a fever that lasted for 12 days. She cried nonstop and during this time, God used it to break me of my self reliance and independence. He taught me about his character to be my provider and refuge in all that I need.
Intrigued with his character and names he is called through out the Bible, it began my journey in the trenches of motherhood to finding him. Today, I want to share with you about my book and ask you how you found God in motherhood. As Jesus mentors and leads my heart, I want to encourage you all to lead or be led by someone who has walked the path you are now. So while you are here today, the comments you leave will enter you into a giveaway for my book. When you share this article on your Facebook page, it counts as two entries. Okay, are you ready?
Here are the questions!
1. How has God acted as your Refuge in motherhood?
2. Do you feel invisible to your family? Did you know that God sees all you do and cares about you folding socks?
3. How do you shepherd your little lambs?
4. What do you struggle with most in defining your relationship with God?

No other job requires our attention, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with a job expectancy of at least 18 years. We are pulled 1,000 different directions on a weekly basis. Between work, husbands, church, community, and kids, it’s a wonder that we are still sane! This leaves little time for our needs and nurturing our souls.
Mama Needs A Time-Out offers personal insight of going deeper with God. These short devotions help you laugh at life’s most embarrassing moments, provide a unique view of God being with you in the midst of your worst moments, and help put things back into perspective.
Mama Needs A Time-Out is your daily getaway, bookended by Scripture, Heather’s “been-there-and-done-that” transparency and tips for moms are a great way to refresh your spirit—you know, the sleep-deprived, squabbling-refereeing, hormone-wacked, woman your kids refer to as, “Mom.” You can find Mama Needs A Time Out at Amazon & echristian.com
Heather Riggleman lives in Nebraska with her three children and husband. When she isn’t writing about her latest mothering experience, you can find her speaking to mom’s groups all across her grand state of Nebraska. “Feeling worn out, unseen, unappreciated, overwhelmed? Heather Riggleman writes with understanding, a touch of humor, and a lot of grace. Her words lifted my eyes to the Father God who sees and loves me, and lifted my heart with our common connection as moms. I highly recommend this book!”

If you want to learn and grow both personally and spiritually at the same time, read this book. Mary Byers, author of The Mother Load: How to Meet Your Needs While Caring for Your Family.
“After hearing ‘MOMMY’ all day once, I asked my toddler to call me ‘Jen’ for the rest of the day. Mommy, Mama, Mom…we hear our name called constantly. Motherhood is so incredible and so hard. Mama Needs A Time-Out, not only acknowledges the challenges of parenting, but it describes the powerful names of God and reminds us that He is the strength and patience and wisdom and energy we all need to be theincredible mothers He created us to be.” ~Jen Hatmaker, author of 9 books including A Modern Girl’s Guide to Bible Study and Out of theSpin Cycle: Devotions to Lighten Your Mother Load.
Mama Needs a Time Out is written with raw honesty and a touch of humor and heartache. Heather Riggleman has a way of reaching a woman’s heart and soul by paralleling her life experiences to her relationship with the Lord. There is no place in this book for pretense or platitude regarding faith and family life. The Scripture verses bookmark the vignettes, with each chapter focusing on one of God’s names. Be challenged and be blessed by reading the book by the Mama from Nebraska.
